Dr. Althoff is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine at Prisma Health in Greenville, South Carolina. Dr. Althoff earned her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from Furman University, where she excelled both academically and athletically as a captain of the women’s varsity soccer team. She received her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, followed by a five-year orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Virginia, where she served as Administrative Chief Resident and was recognized with multiple awards for research and leadership. She went on to complete a prestigious Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, consistently ranked among the top orthopedic institutions in the country.

Sports Medicine Care

Throughout her residency and University of Virginia and fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery, Dr. Althoff gained extensive hands-on experience as an Assistant Team Physician for several professional sports organizations, including the New York Red Bulls (MLS) and the New York Liberty (WNBA). She also served as Head Team Physician for the McDonald’s High School All-American Games and Long Island City Football Club, and supported athletes during events like the WNBA Finals and MLS Coachella Valley Invitational. With a strong foundation in both surgical and non-surgical treatment of sports injuries, Dr. Althoff is equipped to care for athletes at all levels, blending high-performance medicine with compassionate, community-focused care.
